Slowly, but Monsoon is progressing

It seems Monsoon, is slowly but progressively energzing in the country after its path was disrupt by last month's cyclone Aila originating in the Bay of Bengal.

After hitting coastal Kerala in the last week of May, monsoon had exactly vanished and the experts were apprehensive about its revival, especially in the wake of El Nino effect.

On its path of revival, the southwest monsoon reached coastal Maharashtra on June 26, about 19 days late. It further advanced to some parts of Vidarbha on Saturday, but after moving for two days, it halted on Sunday.

In the eastern part, monsoon arrived in Bihar, though 13 days late. The rains brought some relief to the farmers, as the state was staring at a possible drought situation.

There was also some good news in store for many other parts of the country.

As per the weather forecast, rain and thundershowers were likely in many parts of northwest India, including parts of Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Sikkim can also expect monsoon showers in the next two-three days.
