The Assam government has sounded an alert after heavy monsoon rains covered more than 300 villages; displace an approximate 200,000 people in the last two days.
Four districts of Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Jorhat and Nagaon have been most affected.
Most of the displaced people are now stuck at temporary shelters on raise embankment.
